BIOMICROSCOPY A complete biomicroscopic examination is required prior to contact lens fitting. One must rule out any ocular disease that might contra-indicate contact lens fitting, detect any conditions indicating a certain type of lens, and record any abnormalities present prior to fitting so one knows if contact lens wear has caused changes. The biomicroscopic examination should include an examination of: - the lids and lid margins - bulbar conjunctiva - tear film - inferior palpebral conjunctiva - eversion of the upper lid to examine superior palpebral conjunctiva - limbal area - cornea - anterior chamber angle - iris and crystalline lens See the module on the biomicroscope for a detailed prefitting biomicroscopy examination.
